Tribal People Are Not “Primitive”

The Association of Social Anthropologists is encouraging people not to describe living population groups with phrases like “stone age,” “primitive,” and “savage.” Such descriptors are not acceptable for tribal and indigenous people because the words could have “serious implications for their welfare,” meaning it could open them up to persecution and forced development by so-called “civilized” people.

I completely agree. It is time that we recognize the intrinsic value of all human life, not just of those people who live like we do.
