Security Breach at the Department of Agriculture

The Social Security numbers of 63,000 people have been posted on the website of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, it has been discovered. Since 1996, people who have received grants from the USDA have had their SSNs displayed to the public on the government website.

The information was finally taken down last week following its discovery by a farmer who visited the site. Free credit monitoring will be available to all those who were affected by this unfortunate mishap.
