Federer Ties Borg’s Record of Five Consecutive Wimbledon Titles

Despite some serious resistance from second-seed Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer continues his dominance of men’s tennis by winning this year’s Wimbledon championship, which means that the Swiss champ has now matched Björn Borg’s streak of five consecutive Wimbledon titles. With eleven grand slam titles overall, Federer is now tied with both Borg and Rod Laver for third place in total number of singles championships. Pete Sampras is still the record holder with fourteen, but I suspect that Roger will be surpassing that within a couple of years.
