The Vatican Says Non-Catholic Churches Are “Wounded”

The Roman Catholic Church reaffirmed its “no Church but us” dogma on Tuesday when the Vatican released a document stating that non-Catholic churches are wounded and may not be true churches. The sixteen-page document by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith asserts that Christian Orthodox and Protestant churches suffer from a “wound” because they do not recognize the primacy of Pope. Referring to Protestants in particular, the document states, “It is … difficult to see how the title of ‘Church’ could possibly be attributed to them.”

As a Protestant myself, I am not too surprised by the document; Catholics have always thought that their brand of Christianity was the only right one. However, I am slightly taken aback by the harshness of the words.
